From developing complex UI applications to planning scalable backend services, I build end-to-end systems from scratch in a thorough and efficient manner. I work independently — or with a team - emphasizing strong communication with the team.

From 0 to 1

I work with abstract ideas, taking an active role in the definition and planning of the product. Once the product outline is agreed, I quickly develop and push the deliverables into production while focusing on the overall goals of the business.

Team Building

With vast experience hiring and mentoring developers/engineering managers, I help improve the technology recruitment process. Additionally, I construct plans to aide in the growth of junior developers, and have been called upon to manage software teams remotely.

By combining advanced machine learning algorithms and satellite sensors, Planetwatchers delivers a robust monitor and alert system which provides critical information for natural resource intensive enterprises from the Forestry, Agriculture and Energy industries.

I built the first product of the company - Foresights - which helps operations teams from forestry companies monitor their distributed assets and provide insights on growth and disturbances.

I was employed by the company after they raised their seed round of funding. At the time, they were already engaged with a large potential client - delivering reports through emails. The target was to release a working web-platform and onboard the client to use it within 2 months.

Understanding the Clients Needs

In the early stages of the project, I spent time with the team members to understand their target market, the needs of their clients and the value proposition being offered. From there, we moved to choosing the technological stack, project management and analytics tools.

Tech stack used: React+Redux, node.js (with typescript), python, lambda functions, ECS and AWS beanstalk.

Platform Building

The first release of the platform was delivered to production within 2 months of defining the scope of the work. Following the platform’s initial release, we started iterations with the potential client to improve the product.

Recruitment

With a working product in production, hiring a team of engineers to help expand the first release became the priority. I invested my time in outlining staffing needs/costs as well as defining the recruitment process. I, personally, led the hiring process and conducted interviews with local and remote candidates.

Leadership

I led the small development team that was established - refining work methodology, planning new features, conducting code reviews and acted as the focal point with the founders.

Nucleai builds AI algorithms that inspect tissue biopsies to detect cancer - helping physicians reduce diagnostic errors and ultimately save lives.

I built a rich UI application for physicians, where they can see the results of the algorithms on the the scans of their patients - allowing them to quickly go through hundreds of scans and review them.

Leading the front-end development

I wrote the code for the web-app from scratch as well as helped choose the frontend technologies used by the R&D team. I was also responsible for screening engineers applying to the company.

Designing and Implementing the backend infrastructure

I assisted in the design and implementation of the data-pipeline - from digesting the raw data to storing the results of the algorithm. Additionally, I implemented different api services and Ci/CD process.

Tech Stack used: React/Redux, typescript, python, postgress, AWS ECS, gitlab CI.

MinuteMedia is a global, digital, sports media company, powered by socially driven content created by the fans.

As one of the original developers at the company, I witnessed the company’s growth from several employees in a small room, to a global company with 200+ people over my 5 years employed. During my time at the company I held several positions, continually developing and growing into leadership roles. My roles include:

Deputy VP R&D

I was responsible for defining and continuously improving the development process across the R&D teams - scrum development teams, QA and Devops. I also led the recruitment process and formulated an interview and assessment that enable team leaders to find the right candidates.

Head of Web Development

I led the web development team (12 people at its peak, BE, FE, operations), working end-to-end on the development of all Minute Media services - website, editor, CMS and APIs - all built internally. I was in charge of all levels of the implementation - architecture, design review, code review, deployment, monitoring and maintenance.

Full Stack Developer

Developed several end-to-end services for the company, including an open-source counting server- count-von-count - which tracks different events in near-real time. This service is still used in production, supporting today’s scale of 326 million pageviews per month.

Watchful.ai builds a tool for product managers and market analysts which enables them to see which features their competitors have released, and more important, what they are going to release.
